Glendora Woman's Club Presented LaFetra Center Choir

Glendora -- The Glendora Woman's Club's recent program featured a group of singers from a class at LaFetra Center in Glendora called "Sing For Health, Sing For Joy." said Woman's Club program chair Helen Storland. Under the direction of Kim Holland, with piano accompaniment by Pat Kelly.

The group of 50 singers presented a varied program of old favorites and special selections. Included in the group of singers was Rev. Alisia Proctor, long-time Glendora Woman's Club member and active committee member.

The group's director Mrs. Hollard started the free class at LaFetra Center in June 2017 with 18 members. Since then, the class, that is open to all who want to sing, has grown to 60 members. She added that recent research illustrates how singing, especially in groups, is beneficial to health, and that singing groups are increasingly used as therapy for those with any kind of speech or cognitive disorder.

A long-time resident of Glendora, Director Hollard is a graduate of Glendora High school and Citrus College, and holds a Masters Degree in Counseling, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. She retired from Citrus College after 20 years as a teacher and administrator, said Mrs. Storland.
